Ohio State is in the process of revising websites and program materials to accurately reflect compliance with the law. While this work occurs, language referencing protected class status or other activities prohibited by Ohio Senate Bill 1 may still appear in some places. On Nov. 8, millions of Americans will cast their votes in the first federal election since the unprecedented events following the 2020 election. The midterms will be a major test of American democracy: How prepared are we? If you’re eligible, will you vote?

We’ve learned since 2020 that the test extends beyond Election Day: If a race is contested, how should we sort through relevant information (and misinformation) to make up our own minds responsibly? How should we accept an outcome even if we don’t like it? What options do we have for justified civic action? As part of Institute for Democratic Engagement and Accountability's Shop Class for Democracy initiative, we invite you to join a panel on these and other questions crucial to America’s future.

A livestream will be available here and with closed captions. We strive to host inclusive, accessible events that enable all individuals, including individuals with disabilities, to engage fully. To request an accommodation or for inquiries about accessibility, please contact admin-oaadac@osu.edu.

Panelists:
  • Aaron Ockerman, Executive Director, Ohio Association of Election Officials
  • Sahar Heydari Fard, Assistant Professor of Philosophy, The Ohio State University
