IDEA is proud to co-sponsor a talk by Dr. Ana Muñiz along with Latina/o Studies and the Criminal Justice Research Institute, "Specter and Spectacle: Constructing the 'Immigrant Gang Member' Through Digital Surveillance." This talk will be Tuesday, March 24, from 3-4:30 pm in Hagerty Hall 198. Professor Muñiz' first book Police Power and the Production of State Boundaries reconstructs how the LAPD, city prosecutors and business owners control what should be considered dangerous and how it should be policed, criminalizing blacks and Latinos.
