Ohio State is in the process of revising websites and program materials to accurately reflect compliance with the law. While this work occurs, language referencing protected class status or other activities prohibited by Ohio Senate Bill 1 may still appear in some places. However, all programs and activities are being administered in compliance with federal and state law.

U.S. Programs Overview

  • Connecting to Congress: Connecting to Congress, IDEA’s flagship initiative, connects citizens and their Members of Congress through scientifically tested deliberative engagements that foster meaningful, bipartisan discussions.

  • Deliberative Citizens Panel: The Deliberative Citizens Panel project is a collaboration between IDEA and the Center for Human Resources Research (CHRR) at OSU to create a representative panel of U.S. citizens interested in participating in Deliberative Town Halls and other consultative constituent engagement. This project aims to bring deliberative engagement to more people by reducing the per-project costs for all users.

  • Connecting Classrooms to Congress: The Connecting Classrooms to Congress project offers high school students the opportunity to study a pressing national issue and then meet with their sitting Member of Congress through a Deliberative Town Hall. The project aims to create a direct and informed dialogue between the nation’s youth and their representatives.
