National Projects by Type
IDEA’s national projects continue to grow, reflecting our expanding civic engagement work across the U.S. Below, we’ve grouped our current initiatives into categories for easier access and exploration.

Connecting to Congress
IDEA’s flagship U.S. initiative creates direct, deliberative engagement between Members of Congress and a representative cross-section of constituents. Its core activity, the Deliberative Town Hall (DTH), invites authentic, non-partisan conversations. Research shows DTHs increase approval, trust, and civic participation. Learn more here

Shop Class for Democracy
Our democracy is imperiled by our toxic politics. IDEA believes the way to better politics is by developing a citizenry with the ability to self-govern. The capacity for true self-governance involves the ability to acquire and evaluate information, the skills to dialogue across differences and make deliberative decisions together, and the commitment to democratic values, institutions, and practices. Deliberative Citizens Panel
In partnership with CHRR at OSU, IDEA is developing a citizen panel for ongoing deliberative engagement.
