Shop Class for Democracy deliberative forums build students’ skills in critical thinking, dialoguing across difference, and deliberative decision-making, and promote a stronger commitment to democratic values and institutions. IDEA offers this experience especially to all first-year students but is also building the infrastructure among departments and staff to extend deliberative discussion to a diverse array of subjects, not just political science. Students will have the power to engage in deliberative discussions on their own issues, expanding their comprehension in a multi-dimensional manner.
