Marco is a PhD student in Comparative Politics at Princeton University. His research interests include studying the meaning of representation in different contexts, public deliberation, and democratic consolidation with a specific regional focus on Sub-Saharan Africa. In particular, he is interested in how introducing venues of both vertical and horizontal deliberation can foster civic culture and contribute to strengthening representative institutions in young democracies. He leads IDEA’s work in adapting Deliberative Town Halls in Nigeria and other African countries.

Marco previously worked in Nigeria as a research fellow for the Centre for the Study of the Economies of Africa (CSEA). He holds a BSc in Economics, Statistics and Mathematics from Queen Mary University of London (QMUL) and an MSc in African Development from the London School of Economics (LSE).
